I&#8217;ll also introduce you to this unit, the course site, and the results of our online survey. Finally, we&#8217;ll look at\u00a0some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smashingmagazine.com\/2010\/06\/01\/meet-the-team-pages-examples-and-trends\/\" target=\"_blank\">examples<\/a>\u00a0of digital bios and discuss\u00a0the content and format guidelines for yours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Th, 8\/28<\/strong>: Write and design your digital bio using <a href=\"http:\/\/htmleditor.in\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">this tool<\/a>\u00a0(or <a href=\"http:\/\/4html.net\/Online-text-to-HTML-converter-831.html\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> one). Once you&#8217;re happy with your design, grab the html by\u00a0copying and pasting it into a new document that you&#8217;ll have\u00a0access to\u00a0class. Also, read &#8220;Chapter 3: Defining Your Communication\u2019s Objectives: Purpose, Reader, Context&#8221; and\u00a0pp 5-10 (\u201cCharacteristics of workplace writing\u201d). In class, we&#8217;ll review the bios and watch and take notes on <em>Helvetica<\/em> (2007), considering how the film presents a rhetorical analysis of typeface.<\/p>\n<p><strong>T, 9\/2<\/strong>: Add a comment under the Meet the Team\u00a0tab, above, that networks with at least three students. If someone comments on your bio, respond to them in the appropriate thread. Also read &#8220;Chapter 8: \u00a0Drafting Paragraphs, Sections, and Chapters&#8221; and &#8220;Chapter 14: Designing Reader-Centered Pages and Documents.&#8221;<em>\u00a0<\/em>In class, we&#8217;ll discuss <em>Helvetica<\/em> and document design, considering what it tells us about the purposes, audiences, and various cultures that produce and read these fonts. Finally, we&#8217;ll apply that knowledge as we start to gear up for our Tech Briefings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Th, 9\/4<\/strong>: Read pp 188-193 (&#8220;Conducting a Survey&#8221;) and &#8220;Chapter 4: Planning for Usability.&#8221;<em>\u00a0<\/em>In class we&#8217;ll review the <a title=\"Tech Briefing requirements\" href=\"https:\/\/courses.jasonluther.net\/professional\/?page_id=85\" target=\"_blank\">Tech Briefing assignment<\/a>, check out a video on Google Forms, and start making\u00a0surveys using Google Forms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>T, 9\/9<\/strong>: Send me\u00a0a\u00a0link to your survey by 8 a.m today.\u00a0In class, we&#8217;ll complete these surveys and view the results and their importance to audience analysis. To prepare, read &#8220;Chapter 7: Analyzing Info and Thinking Critically.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Th, 9\/11<\/strong>: By 8 a.m. today, email me pdfs of\u00a0your summary of responses along with a draft of a\u00a0memo summarizing your survey results, drawing from some of the methods discussed in Chapter 7.
